Scott Anderson

Board President

Scott and his wife Dianne relocated from the Bay Area to Cambria seven years ago, and he joined Greenspace two years later. Scott is now the President of the Board and has held that position since 2023. Prior to this, he served as Vice President for a year.

Scott earned his B.A. in English Literature from Willamette University, Salem, Oregon, and then spent his entire 40-year career in sales and marketing, of which twenty-one years were in the employ of HP.  During the last seven years of his professional career, Scott and his wife Dianne owned and operated a tourism marketing business where they promoted local businesses in Los Gatos and Saratoga, CA. This led to leadership roles in the Los Gatos Visitors Bureau and Saratoga Chamber of Commerce, where he served as President. It was during this time he came to understand the non-profit world and how it depends on volunteers and community financial support.

When asked to relate his most memorable Greenspace experience, Scott replied: “It unfolded a couple of years ago, outside of town, during an unabated deluge of rain, in a sea of mud. I dutifully arrived at the site of our annual Monterey pine sapling planting, 100% expecting to be turned away by postponement to another day. Instead, through the gloom of pounding rain, I saw sixty-five ghostly figures already in the field, trudging through the sloppy earth, carefully placing 1,000 seedlings in their future homes.

In the end, everyone was soaked, muddy, and exhilarated. It was the determination and grit I witnessed that morning by both staff and volunteers that inspired me to take a more active role in Greenspace. After all,  any organization supported by volunteers this fervent has to have something very special going for it! “

Scott and his wife Dianne enjoy Cambria’s pace and serenity and are passionate about land preservation.  Dianne currently serves as the Board Chair for the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve.

Scott came to Cambria with three personal goals in mind: learn to oil paint, learn to play table tennis, and write more. He finds the joyful energy of the raucous Table Tennis Club an exhilarating contrast to the solitude of painting. And Greenspace can always use a few extra hundred words now and then!
