Greenspace's Creekside Reserve
2264 Center St. Cambria, CA
This year’s theme of Climate Action, is an answer to climate change which represents the biggest challenge to the future of humanity and the life-support systems that make our world habitable.
Last April, during Greenspace’s 2nd annual Earth Day event at the Creekside Reserve, the organization introduced the 3,000 Trees Initiative. Volunteers signed up to receive their Monterey Pines seeds, trays and instructions at the Earth Day tree clinic run by Director Rick Hawley. Each volunteer provided foster care for their young charges until the seedlings matured enough for forest planting last Winter. For more info on last years event see our 3,000 Tree Initiative.
For Virtual Earth Day 2020, Greenspace -The Cambria Land Trust is seeking foster parents to grow their very own tray of Monterey Pine seedlings to be planted again in the Winter of 2020/21. Volunteers are asked to pick up their pre-filled trays of 98 cones and bag of Monterey Pine seeds at the Greenspace Creekside Reserve on Sunday, April 19th. We will schedule a special time for you to pick up your tray, and one of our volunteers will place the tray in the trunk of your car so that we adhere to the social distancing rules required for safety. If you are interested in growing a tray of seedlings please contact Ellen Leigh at 702-499-0983 or email email@example.com
Regenerating and replanting our Monterey Pine forests are one way to help stem our climate crisis and seize the enormous possibilities of a zero-carbon future. This is a great opportunity for individuals or families to take part in renewing our beautiful Monterey Pine Forest.
Join Greenspace Director Richard Hawley as he describes how to grow a Monterey Pine from a tiny seed to a sprout ready to plant in the Winter of 2020. Special thanks to volunteer videographer Dr. Bob Cichowski and assistant Sharon Harvey. Happy Earth Day!
We hope to gather in 2021 for an idyllic and a wonderful show of Cambria community coming together to celebrate, preserve and protect our lovely home.
For the time being, wash your hands, cherish your loved ones and our planet, and stay safe!
