'The Sherwoods’, the peripatetic a cappella men’s ensemble will carry on with 50 years of delighting audiences when they perform in Cambria to benefit Greenspace this fall. The group is comprised of Cornell University graduates from 1958 to 1974; their performances include ballads and original close-harmony arrangements well seasoned with humor. Founded in 1956, The Sherwoods were part of a broad collegiate a cappella movement, entertaining at Cornell and other campuses, at Caribbean resorts and on USO tours. Their seven records have been re-mastered as CDs. Now they gather two or three times a year to rehearse and perform in locales from Boston to Seattle, and Palm Springs to the Bahamas. This will be their third appearance on California’s Central Coast where once again their performances will benefit local non-profit organizations.
