Strawberry Canyon is a 21-acre wooded area on Lodge Hill surrounded on three sides by residential development. We expand the area when possible by acquiring adjacent undeveloped lots.
Strawberry Canyon is a mixed forest, primarily Monterey Pine and Coast Live Oaks.
Fall colors warm the forest floor.
The forest is home to a diverse population of wildlife, inclucing black-tailed deer.
Summer fog keeps our Monterey Pines moist during the Central Coast's dry summers. By condensing on the trees' needles, it drips into the ground and feeds the root system.
Raptors like this hawk soar above the forest hunting smaller birds. Kestrels and other hawk species also call the forest home.
Acorn woodpeckers store their bounty in the bark of old trees.
